HOSPITAL

RUTLAND, MA

Rutland Heights State Hospital was built in 1895 for tuberculosis patients. It was later used as a rehabilitation facility. It closed in 1991 when it was no longer of use to the state and was demolished in 2001. All that remains of the original property are an old flagpole, a wishing well and small brick security building overlooking the entrance to the site.
