The original hospital opened in 1894 in a wooden building on a 17-acre. In 1913 Parkland moved to a new location. Parkland is best known as the hospital where four individuals associated with the assassination of John F. Kennedy either died or were pronounced dead, his alleged assassin Lee Harvey Oswald and Jack Ruby who killed Oswald. And Abraham Zapruder who filmed the famous Zapruder film all died at Parkland. Later, Dallas County Commissioners asked Parkland Health & Hospital System to take over the healthcare services for inmates in the Dallas County Jail. Due to a well maintained security system equipped with cameras and alarms, I could not gain access to take interiors.
